People searching for a unique Mother’s Day gift will have lots to choose from this weekend.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Gem Show – which had to be cancelled last year due to the pandemic – will be making a welcome return at Kingaroy Showgrounds on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

More than 40 stalls will be filling the inside and outside of the Kuck’s Pavilion, offering many things rarely seen anywhere else in the region.<\/p>\n

The show is run by the South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club (SBGFC) and it drew big attendances when it had its first outing in 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the two years since then, SBGFC members have had several exhibitions of their jewellery creations at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery.<\/p>\n

And this weekend the general public will get another chance to see them.<\/p>\n

However, the Gem Show has a lot more to offer than just hand-crafted jewellery.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Visitors can also look over extensive displays of minerals and gem rocks like thunder eggs and opals that SBGFC members have collected on fossicking trips all over Australia.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be demonstrations and expert advice on all matters relating to gem hunting, plus hands-on sand sieving and thunder egg cutting for children to enjoy.<\/p>\n

Those who fancy a bit of bartering will also find trade stalls selling everything from lapidary equipment to raw materials for gem-making.<\/p>\n

Food and drinks will also be available in the grounds, and there’ll be lucky door prizes and raffles as well.<\/p>\n

The Gem Show will run from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday, April 10, and 9:00am to 2:00pm on Sunday, April 11.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Admission is just $5 for adults, and children aged 12 or below can get in for free.<\/p>\n
