A 77-year-old man – a dual PNG\/UK national – died on Monday from COVID-19 in Redcliffe Hospital.<\/p>\n

The man was transported by medevac from PNG to Queensland on March 28 when his condition began to worsen and since then has been in an intensive care unit.<\/p>\n

“PNG is one of Queensland\u2019s closest neighbours, and when we can offer support to our neighbours, we can, and we will,” a Queensland Health spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, aeromedical crews have transferred a number of COVID positive, and potentially COVID positive, patients to Queensland.<\/p>\n

“As this case was diagnosed in PNG, it will be not be included in Queensland\u2019s statistics.”<\/p>\n

The Queensland COVID-19 death toll remains at six and has not changed since April 2020.<\/p>\n

The current COVID-19 restrictions in Queensland are likely to end on April 15.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fragments of SARS-CoV-2 have been detected at the Capalaba, Maroochydore and Maryborough wastewater treatment plants.<\/p>\n

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said anyone with symptoms, no matter how mild, should come forward and get tested.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we\u2019ve seen over the past couple of weeks, we\u2019re still in this pandemic and we can\u2019t be complacent,” she said.<\/p>\n
