The Goomeri Pumpkin Festival Inc has signed an agreement with Gympie Regional Council to take over the management of the\u00a0Breitkreutz Pavilion at the Goomeri Sportsground.<\/p>\n

The agreement, which was signed after long negotiations, will provide the festival organisers with a permanent home as well as office and storage space.<\/p>\n

Festival volunteers have now begun a clean out the historic building and will soon give it a new coat of paint.<\/p>\n

Gympie Council invited tenders earlier this year from incorporated not-for-profit community groups to take over management of the facility and an associated storage shed.<\/p>\n

The tender included several conditions, including that the successful applicant:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Maintain and display historical, local sporting memorabilia at the Pavilion;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Make the space available for hire for community use and temporary\/one-off commercial use); and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Have regard for the ongoing operation of the Goomeri Playgroup on the site.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
