Toowoomba Regional Council is calling on residents with a passion for working with young people to nominate for positions on the Regional Youth Advisory Committee (RYAC).<\/p>\n

Council is seeking nominations to fill two positions on the group with applications closing on Friday, April 30.<\/p>\n

Cr James O\u2019Shea said Council was seeking expressions of interest from applicants across a range of community and professional backgrounds, from community services to employment, education, health, disability, child protection, youth justice, police and emergency services backgrounds.<\/p>\n

Applications from young people between 18-25 with a passion for improving outcomes for their regional peers were also welcome.<\/p>\n

Cr O\u2019Shea said the advisory committee\u2019s role was to represent the interests of young people by providing strategic advice for Council\u2019s consideration.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, we\u2019ve had two members who have had to resign from the committee. However, this creates an opportunity to fill those spots with two new eager candidates,” he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWith more than 27,000 young people living in our region, it\u2019s important that young people are involved in the development of their communities and have opportunities to shape the topics and issues that matter most to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month from 9:30am-11.30am, except for public holidays.<\/p>\n

Expressions of interest outlining previous experience can be emailed to info@tr.qld.gov.au<\/a><\/strong> or posted to Toowoomba Regional Council, PO Box 3021, Toowoomba, Qld, 4350.<\/p>\n

The term of the Regional Youth Advisory committee will end in March 2024.<\/p>\n
