In an Australian first, Cherbourg Council is planning to integrate artificial intelligence into its Materials Recycling Facility (MRF).<\/p>\n

Economic and Community Development manager Sean Nicholson said the “Cherbourg Data Hub\u201d would include the latest computers and technology.<\/p>\n

The aim of the project is to develop artificial intelligence for the waste industry which would count, identify and sort waste visually.<\/p>\n

Council is seeking expressions of interest from people who are interested in learning about:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Quality assurance<\/li>\n
  • Collaboration and effective teamwork<\/li>\n
  • Data entry<\/li>\n
  • Using Chromebook<\/li>\n
  • Browser-based workflows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Participants will be engaged on the Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Council will be working with Noosa Council’s Peregian Digital Hub, Advance Queensland and the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation on the 18-month to two-year project.<\/p>\n

    Mr Nicholson said getting projects such as this off the ground were a challenge in the early stages due to little or no funding for wages, but were well worthwhile in the long run.<\/p>\n

    He said the skills and qualifications that participants could earn would open doors.<\/p>\n

    The Cherbourg AI project will aim to build a team of talented, computer-savvy young people who have an interest in STEM and are looking to get involved in the technology industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
