Another Murgon Show is done and dusted … which means the hard-working volunteers which made it all happen are now already beginning to plan the 2022 event!<\/p>\n

Show Society president Alan Trim said compliance with Queensland Health regulations meant many changes this year but the positive attitude of everyone involved had made the show a pleasure to attend.<\/p>\n

“Smaller can be better!” Alan said.<\/p>\n

One of the main changes this year was moving the location of the horse rings, which the competitors appreciated.<\/p>\n

The regular Saturday night entertainment program did not go ahead, however there are plans for the rodeo to be held as a separate event later in the year.<\/p>\n

The cattle judges were kept busy. There were about 125 head in the stud beef cattle competitions with a quality turnout ahead of Beef 21 at Rockhampton.<\/p>\n

“Everyone had ideas of how to continue to develop the Murgon Show in the coming years and no one – that I heard – made negative comments,” Alan said.<\/p>\n

Alan said the Friday night entertainment was continuing to grow in popularity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This barbecue and billy boiling event began a few years back, basically as entertainment for the exhibitors camping over at the showgrounds.<\/p>\n

But it is now becoming more popular with the public and may be extended in future.<\/p>\n

The 2021 Murgon Show was officially opened by South Burnett Mayor Brett Otto on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Local councillor Kathy Duff also spoke at the opening, which was attended by Life Members of the Show Society.<\/p>\n

This year’s show faced stiff competition from the large number of events – many involving Murgon residents – which were scheduled elsewhere in the South Burnett on Saturday.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to everyone who just comes to the Murgon Show to look at what Murgon can offer. You are the reason we put on this show,” Alan said.<\/p>\n

“Your support is what keeps the show going and I hope you will continue to support the show in the future.”<\/p>\n
