Toowoomba\u00a0and Somerset regional councils are sharing $9 million for shovel-ready community infrastructure projects that could create hundreds of jobs.<\/p>\n

Somerset will receive $3.89 million and Toowoomba $5.11 million.<\/p>\n

Deputy Premier Steven Miles said the\u00a0South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program (SEQCSP) was distributing $100 million over the next three years to 12 south-east Queensland councils.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delivering on our promise with the rollout of the first $100 million today, which will help councils deliver projects that will stimulate employment, boost local economies and improve communities,\u201d Dr Miles said.<\/p>\n

The SEQCSP has allocated $74 million to councils with the remaining $26 million to be distributed on a competitive application basis.<\/p>\n

The 12 councils in the program are:\u00a0Brisbane City, Gold Coast City, Ipswich City, Lockyer Valley, Logan City, Moreton Bay, Noosa Shire, Redland City, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
