Book lovers had 12,000 reasons to smile – or rather, 12,000 books to pore over – with the return of Bookarama to Kingaroy at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Organisation of the annual bookfest was passed from Taabinga Rotary to the St John’s P&F Association last year, but then COVID stopped it going ahead.<\/p>\n

The P&F inherited 6000 books from Rotary but used the extra time ahead of the 2021 event to gather another 6000 – everything from kids’ books to sporting biographies.<\/p>\n

Year 8 and 9 students from St John’s Lutheran School helped set up the books in Kingaroy Town Hall on Friday after months of sorting by P&F volunteers.<\/p>\n

Flocks of buyers descended on the Town Hall on Saturday and Sunday, scanning QR codes before entering as is now required just about everywhere.<\/p>\n

A P&F spokesperson told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0funds raised from the sales would be used to assist various projects at the school.<\/p>\n

And the event would definitely be held in March from now on (not September, which had been the traditional date).<\/p>\n

Outside the hall, parents of Year 6 students were running a sausage sizzle as part of fundraising for a class trip to Cairns.<\/p>\n
