Yarraman could get a new service station if Toowoomba Regional Council approves plans submitted to it this week.<\/p>\n

SJS Fuels Pty Ltd has lodged a proposal to build a seven-day servo on a vacant block at the corner of Toomey and Margaret streets.<\/p>\n

The block has been vacant for many years and is currently used by the Yarraman Progress Association to host their weekly Yarraman Markets.<\/p>\n

According to the planning report, the new service station would be a boost to Yarraman\u2019s CBD.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The site would be accessible from both the D’Aguilar and New England highways and offer five fuel pumps.<\/p>\n

It would have 12 parking bays – including a disabled parking bay – plus a loading bay.<\/p>\n

The service station’s shop would have a floor area of 308sq m\u00a0and would sell a number of convenience products along with coffee and hot and cold foods.<\/p>\n

If approved, SJS Fuels plans to operate the service station from 5:00am to 8:00pm daily, providing some new employment opportunities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The application included a variety of extra reports which examined traffic impacts, noise, lighting, air quality, landscaping and engineering issues.<\/p>\n

Toowoomba Regional Council is assessing the proposal but has indicated it supports the idea in principle.<\/p>\n
