South Burnett Mayor Brett Otto says meetings at State Parliament last week have “firmed up strategy to secure positive outcomes for the South Burnett”.<\/p>\n

The Mayor met with several government Ministers during his city visit, including the Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities Mark Furner.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important as a Council we get in front of the decisionmakers and let them know where we are heading and how the government can help us get there,\u201d Mayor Otto said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI took the opportunity to remind key Ministers on what is happening in the South Burnett and what the current Palaszczuk government can do to help.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor Otto said his meetings were during sitting week while Parliament was abuzz with activity.<\/p>\n

\u201cMinisters took time out of their busy schedule to listen to what Council is trying to achieve at a cellular level in the South Burnett area,\u201d May Otto said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Mayor discussed agriculture, policing and transport and main roads, as well as other local government issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cRoad investment will always be important to this Council area and I want South Burnett to be \u2018top of mind\u2019 when Minister for Transport and Main Roads Mark Bailey is thinking of fund distribution.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was pleased Minister Bailey took the time to listen to my concerns and discuss opportunities, like the \u2018Great Southern Rail Trail\u2019 we are advocating for,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am planning to be a regular visitor to the Halls of Parliament and knock on their doors as much as needed to get outcomes for the South Burnett.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
