The Golden Spurs Hotel in Proston has jumped on board a great idea and is offering a string of community grants to local not-for-profit groups.<\/p>\n

Licensee Di Grant told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> she was inspired by the grant program that the Fitzroy Hotel unveiled recently in Nanango.<\/p>\n

“I saw what they were doing and thought ‘what a brilliant idea, that’s awesome’,” Di said.<\/p>\n

The Golden Spurs will be offering a series of grants, capped at a maximum of $1000.<\/p>\n

To be eligible to apply, groups or organisations must be located in Proston (although applications from groups in Hivesville will also be considered).<\/p>\n

Not-for-profit groups invited to apply include sporting groups or clubs; emergency services, school P&Cs and kindys, and other community groups.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I want to hear what it is that you want to spend the money on,” Di said.<\/p>\n

“What benefit will the not-for-profit group and the community get out of it?”<\/p>\n

Di said she believed the program was a great way for the Golden Spurs Hotel to support the community that supports it.<\/p>\n

Applications – which will be treated in confidence – will close on April 30.<\/p>\n

The challenge has now gone out to other South Burnett hotels.<\/p>\n

“It would be great if other venues would do the same,” Di said.<\/p>\n
