A $15.6 million project to rebuild flood-damaged sections of the Bunya Highway and Dalby-Cooyar Road began yesterday.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the roads both experienced damage in the 2010-2011 floods.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese busy regional routes suffered extensive surface failures, rutting, broken edges and potholes,\u201d Ms Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bunya Highway will be realigned around a landslip site near Porters Gap and will involve major geotechnical work, costing $2.5 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe $8.7 million works on Dalby-Cooyar Road will repair a 7km section starting about 5km north of Dalby and finishing near Mocattas Corner Road (East).<\/p>\n

\u201cReconstruction of 5km on the Bunya Highway will start at Mocattas Corner Road (West) and finish near Coolibah Way. This project will cost $4.4 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cTraffic will be reduced to one lane during work hours, between 6:00am and 6:00pm.”<\/p>\n

Works is scheduled to be completed by November 2013, weather permitting.<\/p>\n

It is being delivered under Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA). Under NDRRA, the Federal Government provides 75 per cent of the funding, with 25 per cent from the State Government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
