Art lovers had the choice of which gallery opening to attend on Friday night, when the two South Burnett Regional Council-owned galleries again scheduled their official openings on the same night.<\/p>\n

The March exhibition at the Kingaroy Gallery features works by Mundubbera-based artist Sue Lederhose and Lockyer Valley’s Marilyn Leitch.<\/p>\n

A small crowd gathered for the official opening by Cr Kirstie Schumacher, enjoying wine and nibblies supplied by the volunteer Kingaroy Art Team which runs the gallery.<\/p>\n

At Wondai Gallery, a much larger crowd – many connected to St Mary’s Catholic College – gathered to view an exhibition of works by Kingaroy artist and art teacher Bronwyn Langford Martoo.<\/p>\n

Bronwyn’s works stretched across the first and third galleries.<\/p>\n

In Gallery 2, a photography exhibition featured works by John Dalton and former St Mary’s students Hannah Depper and Bridget Barkle.<\/strong><\/p>\n

John, who is assistant to the principal at St Mary’s, had not met up with Hannah and Bridget since they left school six years ago. The opportunity to hold a joint exhibition was a chance for the trio to catch up.<\/p>\n

But St Mary’s hadn’t taken over the whole gallery … in Kidz Korner, junior students from St John’s Lutheran School in Kingaroy had their works on display.<\/p>\n

The Wondai exhibitions were officially opened by Bronwyn’s husband, multimedia personality Damien Martoo.<\/p>\n

Both Kingaroy and Wondai exhibitions will be on show until the end of the month. Entry to either gallery is free.<\/p>\n
