The Queensland rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine officially began on Monday with a nurse receiving an injection of the Pfizer vaccine at the Gold Coast University Hospital.<\/p>\n

Gold Coast University Hospital is one of six hubs where the vaccine is being rolled out across the State.<\/p>\n

The others are Cairns, Townsville, the Royal Brisbane and Women\u2019s, Princess Alexandra and Sunshine Coast University hospitals.<\/p>\n

These will serve as a base for the rollout program over coming months.<\/p>\n

Vaccinations will offered on the basis of a three-phase program devised by Queensland Health.<\/p>\n

So when will you get the opportunity to be vaccinated?<\/strong><\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Phase 1a<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Phase 1a is for frontline health care and quarantine workers and residents in care facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These include health care workers and staff who work in\u00a0providing direct clinical care to COVID-19 positive individuals; in\u00a0Emergency Departments; in\u00a0Intensive Care Units and in Fever and Respiratory clinics.<\/p>\n

Also included are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • QAS responders and aeromedical retrieval teams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Pathology staff, medical researchers and scientists working with SARS-CoV-2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Priority quarantine and border workers; staff who work in quarantine facilities;\u00a0staff who work in air and sea border security, including Australian Federal\u00a0Police and Queensland Police<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Queensland residents working in international air crew; marine pilots<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Aged care and disability care workers (vaccination rollout managed by the Australian Government Health department)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Phase 1b<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

            Phase 1b if for individuals with higher risks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            • Elderly adults aged 70 years and over<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                \n
              • Other health care workers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                  \n
                • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over 55<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                    \n
                  • Younger adults with an underlying medical condition, including those with a disability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                      \n
                    • Critical and high risk workers including defence, police, fire emergency services and meat processing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      Phase 2a<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

                      Individuals with moderate risks:<\/strong><\/p>\n

                        \n
                      • Adults aged 50-69 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                          \n
                        • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 18-54<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                            \n
                          • Other critical and high-risk workers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                            Phase 2b<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n
                              \n
                            • The rest of the adult population<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                              Phase 3<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n
