An elderly man was airlifted to hospital – via two helicopters – after a single-vehicle crash on the Burnett Highway near Ban Ban Springs on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

The man’s vehicle had run off the highway and struck a tree.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the incident just after 8:00am, including the\u00a0Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight helicopter which landed nearby.<\/p>\n

The aeromedical crew worked alongside QAS paramedics to treat the man, aged in his seventies, for multiple injuries.<\/p>\n

The helicopter then flew the man to Gympie, where he was transferred into another LifeFlight helicopter for the flight to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.<\/p>\n

A Lifeflight spokesperson said the man was transported in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n
