Members of the Murgon Camera Club took a walk around Kinbombi Falls last month to practice tricks and techniques they’d learned at recent camera club meetings.<\/p>\n

This Saturday afternoon they’ll be showing the results of their trip at the club’s April meeting.<\/p>\n

The Murgon Camera Club is one of four long-established camera clubs in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

It meets on the second Saturday of each month (except January) between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the new Studio building at the rear of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery.<\/p>\n

The club consists of a mixture of amateur and professional photographers, and covers all age groups.<\/p>\n

The one thing that unites its members is that they love photography and want to take better pictures.<\/p>\n

While the club originally concentrated on film photography when it was founded several decades ago, today its main focus is digital photography.<\/p>\n

“Most of the techniques that were pioneered with film photography translate to digital photography perfectly,” member Max Walters says.<\/p>\n

“The quality of digital cameras has improved dramatically over the last decade, and you can now do nearly everything with digital that you could do with film.<\/p>\n

“However, most of these capabilities are hidden in the fine print of a camera’s instruction manual, so most people only use a tiny fraction of their camera’s real capabilities.<\/p>\n

“What our meetings do is show people all the other things their digital cameras can do too.<\/p>\n

“And we have a lot of other fun activities throughout the year that let members put what they learn into practice, so that these tricks quickly become second nature.”<\/p>\n

The Club’s Kinbombi Falls shoot was one of those “fun activities”.<\/p>\n

And if you want to bring your camera along to this Saturday afternoon’s meeting, there’ll be another impromptu shoot at a mystery location afterwards where you’ll be able to quickly put what you learn into practice.<\/p>\n
