A new format helped Kingsley Grove Estate attract the biggest crowd yet to its annual grape-stomping festival held at its vineyard and cellar door near Kingaroy on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The third annual Grape Stomp attracted between 300-500 people, according to Kingsley Grove’s co-owner Simon Berry.<\/p>\n

In previous years, the festival has been a ticketed event, but this year it was decided to make it an Open Day for the public, with a gold coin donation at the door.<\/p>\n

Also new this year, was the markets featuring about 20 South Burnett stall-holders selling everything from scented candles to pork jerky.<\/p>\n

“I think the markets went very well and we have had positive feedback,” Simon said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I’m very happy about how the event went and we will be looking on building on it to make it even bigger and better next year.”<\/p>\n

One thing that Simon is considering is tweaking the timing … next year the Grape Stomp may start a bit later, and run into the evening to avoid the heat of the day.<\/p>\n

MISfiTZ – Rob and Clare Fitz-Herbert – provided the live music while people stomped, enjoyed wood-fired pizza or simply tasted wine samples at the cellar door.<\/p>\n

All the usual COVID safe requirements were in place, including QR codes in the car park.<\/p>\n
