Football’s annual boost to the South Burnett economy is on again this weekend, with 48 teams registered for the annual\u00a0Kingaroy Soccer Sevens carnival.<\/p>\n

Forty-eight teams plus managers, referees and fans means almost 500 people will be at the Tom Alford playing fields in Kingaroy on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

The event is very popular, with players coming from across south-east Queensland.<\/p>\n

This means a lot of lead-up work for organisers, but this year it also has to be run under COVID-safe conditions which creates even more logistical headaches.<\/p>\n

Organiser Danielle Maudsley said teams have been told to bring their own tents and players won’t be allowed to mingle.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are 26 men’s, 13 women’s and nine Over 35s teams registered.<\/p>\n

They will be playing across\u00a0four fields.<\/p>\n

Play will get under way in the round robin competition at 10:00am on Saturday and will run with military precision through to 6:00pm.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, games will kick off at 8:00am with the finals being played on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
