January 30, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

The public have been invited to come along to watch some equestrian action and inspect the results of an Australia Day working bee at the\u00a0South Burnett Western Performance Club grounds in Nanango.<\/p>\n

While most of Australia was out marking January 26, club members pitched in to refurbish the club’s arena at Racecourse Road.<\/p>\n

Their task was to prepare the grounds for two one-day shows which will kick off the club’s 2021 events program.<\/p>\n

The club’s shows are held regularly throughout the year and provide a good opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to show their horses and enjoy a day out. <\/strong><\/p>\n

On February 20, the club will be holding a Beginners\/Improvers Show, and the next day it will be running an Open Show.<\/p>\n

Each day will feature events for all levels in halter classes, Western riding and English hunter classes.<\/p>\n

Both shows will get under way at 8:00am and will be judged by Helen Bentley and Rosie Fyfe, with ribbons, rosettes and certificates for the winners.<\/p>\n

“Despite a year full of obstacles, our club kept growing to over 60 active members,” president Sarah Saxer said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We’re very grateful for the support we get from our local community and we look forward to expanding the facilities at the grounds for use by other equestrian groups and riders, as well as being able to provide spaces to encourage more spectators to attend our shows and clinics.”<\/p>\n

Sarah said potential new members were very welcome to come along on both days, as well as spectators, to see what the club does and meet members.<\/p>\n

Programs and more information about the February shows can be found on the club’s Facebook group<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Club membership is $45 and also provides members with many benefits, including discounted use of the arena, clinics and special events.<\/p>\n

The club’s grounds are also available for hire by other clubs and equestrian groups, with special rates to encourage more horse lovers to get out and about in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n
