A 31-year-old Morayfield man has been arrested after a chase – during which a shot was allegedly fired at police – which ended on the Brisbane Valley Highway just north of Esk on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said just before 7:00pm,\u00a0a silver BMW pulled up next to a car waiting at set of lights at the intersection of Dances and Pumicestone roads at Caboolture.<\/p>\n

The man allegedly threatened the occupants of the vehicle, a man and woman, with a gun. He then allegedly fired a shot at the car as it drove off, hitting the rear passenger side door.<\/p>\n

The occupants of the vehicle were not injured.<\/p>\n

A short time later, an off-duty officer alerted police to a silver BMW allegedly driving dangerously along the Bruce Highway near Pumicestone Road.<\/p>\n

The man then allegedly attempted to evade police, threatening to injure a male passenger in the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Shortly before 8:00pm, he allegedly fired a shot at a police car on Cottrill Road at Caboolture.<\/p>\n

The BMW was tracked by the PolAir helicopter as it continued towards the D\u2019Aguilar Highway.<\/p>\n

Police allege the driver was driving dangerously and speeding as he headed towards Woodford.<\/p>\n

About 9:00pm, the man released his passenger, an 18-year-old Caboolture man, who was unhurt. It\u2019s believed the pair are known to each other.<\/p>\n

The wild drive continued along the D’Aguilar Highway to Kilcoy, before the BMW turned on to Esk-Kilcoy Road and then Wivenhoe-Somerset Road where police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But the BMW did not stop, with the driver turning on to the Brisbane Valley Highway before being intercepted just north of Esk.<\/p>\n

Specialist police, with the assistance of the Dog Squad, took the man into custody.<\/p>\n

The man was escorted to Ipswich Hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries sustained during his arrest.<\/p>\n

He is expected to be charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, attempted armed robbery, drug possession, driving under the influence of liquor, failing to comply with a direction to stop and two counts each of\u00a0unlawful possession of a weapon and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.<\/p>\n
