January 24, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

Robert Weber – who went missing near Kilkivan on January 6 – has been found alive and well by a local property owner.<\/p>\n

The search for Mr Weber had been suspended on Friday after a ground and air hunt failed to locate him.<\/p>\n

Police and SES volunteers had scoured bushland, rivers, dams and steep terrain during wet conditions for more than a week before the decision was made to discontinue the search.<\/p>\n

However, police at the time urged landholders in the area to keep an eye out for Mr Weber on their properties.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said Mr Weber was found about 9:00am on Sunday by a property owner near a dam.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The spokesman said initial indications were that Mr Weber’s Ford Falcon sedan became bogged on a road he was unfamiliar with.<\/p>\n

“He remained at his car with his dog for three days before running out of water,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“He left on foot and became lost and remained at a dam where he survived by sleeping on the ground, drinking dam water and eating mushrooms.”<\/p>\n

Mr Weber was taken to hospital suffering exposure but was otherwise safe and well.<\/p>\n

The Nerangba man had been last sighted with his dog leaving the Kilkivan Hotel in a white 2000 model Ford Falcon on January 6.<\/p>\n

His vehicle was later found bogged.<\/p>\n

Mr Weber’s dog has not been located.<\/p>\n
