The residents of Wondai Road at Proston are celebrating after their slice of the South Burnett was selected as this year’s Santa Claus Lane.<\/p>\n

This is the second year the\u00a0CEO\u2019s Christmas lights competition has been run, which acts an incentive for neighbours to work together to demonstrate their Christmas spirit.<\/p>\n

The 2019 winner was Amaroo Drive at Wondai.<\/p>\n

The 2020 winner was announced on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said Council had received numerous entries to this year’s competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cSanta Claus Lane aims to promote a sense of community by encouraging neighbours to work collaboratively creating light shows,” Mr Pitt said.<\/p>\n

“This year we requested entrants to nominate why they and their neighbours should be granted the coveted title.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to foster a community spirit in the South Burnett, and this is one small simple way of getting people talking and working together.<\/p>\n

\u201cA big congratulations to all the families on Wondai Road, Proston for submitting entries into the competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Their combined displays best embodied Christmas and co-operation.”<\/p>\n

The “Santa Claus Lane” street sign has been erected near the former Shepherd Memorial Church of St Peter on the corner of Wondai and Drake streets.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe street sign is a perpetual award,” Mr Pitt said.<\/p>\n

“We hope to continue each Christmas season to recognise the winning street\u2019s participation in the Christmas Lights display.”<\/p>\n

Mr Pitt also congratulated the residents of\u00a0Pring Street and Amaroo Drive, Wondai; Muir Drive, Nanango; and Carroll Street, Kingaroy, which were highly commended.<\/p>\n

\u201cI encourage residents to view the Christmas Lights map and take a family trip to view the displays over the Christmas period,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
