Toowoomba Regional Council has launched a Youth Grant scheme for the first time as part of its Community Grants program.<\/p>\n

Cr James O\u2019Shea said grants of up to $1000 were available.<\/p>\n

Applications opened on Wednesday and will close on January 13.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Youth Grant program is new for Council and aims to increase young people\u2019s engagement with their communities, targeting those in the 12-25 age bracket,\u201d Cr O’Shea said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil recognises the importance of supporting our youth which is why we\u2019ve introduced this new source of funding.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe already have a number of community grant programs but this one is specifically targeting youth-led and youth-driven projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBy opening this program we\u2019re hoping to be empower the young people of this region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis program will provide funding and\/or in-kind assistance to support youth\/community organisations in their efforts to provide services, activities and events that are of benefit to the young people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Projects funded under the Youth Grants program must demonstrate how they have involved young people at every stage – from issues identification, to design, delivery and review.<\/p>\n

Organisations or groups applying for funding must have spoken with young people and involved them in the conceptual design of the project before submitting an application.<\/p>\n

Anyone interested in applying has been encouraged to contact the TRC as officers can give advice and assistance in the grant application process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
