South Burnett’s Michael Wostear ripped through the Gympie line-up at Lyle Vidler Oval<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett have notched up their first victory in the 2020-21 Goodchild Shield cricket competition after downing Gympie by 59 runs at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Goodchild Shield is a traditional 50-over competition played between open teams from the South Burnett, Bundaberg, Gympie and the Fraser Coast.<\/p>\n

The final of this year’s three-round series will be played in February.<\/p>\n

South Burnett won the toss on Sunday and batted first.<\/p>\n

They were all out for 207 in the 48th over after Kurt McArthur saved the South Burnett innings with a knock of 80.<\/p>\n

Hayden Wieck (21) and Zac Dann (24) also added to the total.<\/p>\n

In reply, Gympie were all out for 148 in the 44th over after some aggressive and tight bowling from the home team.<\/p>\n

Michael Wostear finished with the incredible tally of 4\/8 off 6.3 overs, including three maidens. He also took two catches – including a caught and bowled.<\/p>\n

Lleyton Brown also took four wickets – 4\/21 off 10 overs, including four maidens.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett’s next game will be against Fraser Coast on January 17.<\/p>\n

Gympie A Grade Competition<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Ladder leaders Murgon Crusaders secured a berth in the Gympie A Grade 40-over competition Grand Final with a seven-wicket win over Wooroolin Warriors in the Preliminary Final played at Murgon Sportsground on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wooroolin, which finished in second spot on the ladder, won the toss and elected to bat.<\/p>\n

Lleyton Brown top-scored with 60 runs, including three fours and two sixes.<\/p>\n

Michael Wostear (39 not out) and\u00a0Hayden Wieck (23) also added valuable runs to take Wooroolin to 8\/155 at the end of their 40 overs.<\/p>\n

Nicholas Sanewski proved lethal with the ball for Murgon, taking 2\/16 off seven overs, including three maidens.<\/p>\n

Zac Dann took 1\/24 off three and Harrison Sippel 2\/42 off his eight overs.<\/p>\n

In reply, Jason Webber (63 not out) set up Crusaders for victory, staying at the crease for almost two hours.<\/p>\n

Ashley Sippel just missed out on his half-century, finishing not out 49.<\/p>\n

Murgon overhauled the Wooroolin target in the 26th over for the loss of just three wickets.<\/p>\n

Michael Wostear took two (2\/23) while Mitchell Crossley (1\/26) took the third.<\/p>\n

Crusaders now have a week off with the Grand Final scheduled for December 19 while Warriors will face Gympie Valleys this weekend in Gympie in a sudden-death semi-final to determine the second Grand Final contender.<\/p>\n

              The last round of the T20 competition will be played on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

              The final will be played at 3:00pm at Lyle Vidler Oval.<\/strong><\/p>\n

              • Kingaroy Northern AgriServices (3\/148) def. Nanango Scorpions (10\/95)\u00a0 by 53 runs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                Nanango won the toss and sent Kingaroy in.<\/p>\n

                Jackson Kerkow (36 n\/o) and\u00a0Jamie Searle (22) were the top scorers for Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

                Rainer Heard (1\/18) and\u00a0Emma Cullen (1\/17) did the damage for Nanango.<\/p>\n

                In reply, Darcy Cullen top scored with 19 n\/o for Nanango and Emma Cullen scored nine runs.<\/p>\n

                Jamie Searle (3\/8) and\u00a0Hayden Donohue (2\/9) were the top bowlers for Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

                  Darcy English took 1\/8 and Rory Crumpton 1\/12 for Nanango.<\/p>\n

                  In reply, Oscar Dioth was 34 n\/o and\u00a0Lawson Black 19 n\/o.<\/p>\n

                  Matthew Kunde was best for Murgon with 2\/22 and\u00a0Josh Williams took 1\/26.<\/p>\n

                      Wide Bay QJC U12s (10\/194) def. Wide Bay Development U13s (10\/123).<\/p>\n

                      For Under 13s,\u00a0Tom Town opened the bowling and took 1\/18 off six overs.\u00a0Fellow opening bowler Lawson Black finished with 1\/38 off six overs plus threw a direct hit from side-on to score a runout.<\/p>\n

                      Hunter Brown was 0\/7 (off 3) and\u00a0Nate Reilly, 0\/14 (off 3).\u00a0 Hayden Donohue was the best of the U13s bowlers, taking 4\/27 off seven overs.<\/p>\n

                      With the bat, Town finished 12 not out with Brown (6) and Donohue (2).<\/p>\n

                      Joshua Williams was the South Burnett player in the U12s side.<\/p>\n

                      He finished with 16 runs (not out) and took 2\/4 off three overs (including two maidens) with the ball.<\/p>\n
