Providers have been chosen to deliver $11.2 million in Federal Government programs to help build drought resilience across Australia.<\/p>\n

The government’s Future Drought Fund is financing the “Networks to Build Drought Resilience” and “Drought Resilience Leaders” programs which\u00a0will be delivered by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation<\/a><\/strong> (ARLF) and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal<\/a><\/strong> (FRRR).<\/p>\n

Agriculture Minister and Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said the providers were selected through a competitive grant process.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe $5 billion Future Drought Fund provides secure, continuous funding for resilience initiatives that will give farmers and communities the tools they need to prepare for, manage and sustain their livelihoods during droughts,\u201d Minister Littleproud said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe networks program will build community capacity and boost the presence and reach of rural and regional community networks and build small-scale infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe leaders program provides an invaluable opportunity for young people and emerging leaders to receive practical training and enable farmers to share skills and information with their peers through mentoring.\u201d<\/p>\n

ARLF will deliver the $7.45 million leaders program while FRRR will be responsible for the\u00a0$3.75 million networks program.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBoth providers have an extensive national reach and capability to tailor support to different regional contexts, ensuring the programs deliver maximum benefits for our agriculture-dependent communities facing future droughts,\u201d Minister Littleproud said.<\/p>\n
