Murgon businessman Leo Geraghty is holding a clearing sale at his Murgon property this weekend.<\/p>\n

There’s something for everyone in the sale, as a lifetime of farming experience is going under the hammer.<\/p>\n

The sale includes more than 90 cows (many with calves) and three Charbray bulls.<\/p>\n

There are Massey Ferguson tractors and a range of farming equipment including ploughs, planter harrows and a slasher.<\/p>\n

There’s also\u00a0fire fighter pumps,\u00a0saw benches, a fertiliser spreader,\u00a0a 240 volt generator,\u00a0overhead petrol tank and stand, a large quantity of new and old timber posts,\u00a045 gallon drums, wire strainers, spray backpacks,\u00a0crosscut saws, a gun safe, tools, cream cans and antique scales etc etc.<\/p>\n

A number of vehicles are also being sold, including trailers, an old Toyota LandCruiser farm ute and Nissan utes for wrecking.<\/p>\n

But one of the highlights must be a Model A Ford just begging for restoration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The sale is being handled by Across Country Real Estate & Livestock at Murgon and no reserve prices have been set.<\/p>\n

“I arrived at the farm originally called ‘Floodview’ in 1965 to date a beautiful girl,\u00a0 Glenda Pearson, who later became my fantastic and loving wife,” Leo said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I was introduced to the life of farming by my father-in-law Jack Pearson and his brother Dick – dairying, pulling peanuts by hand and ploughing the paddocks.<\/p>\n

“Over the years we have enjoyed our weekend life on the farm which we now call ‘Bandamill’ but feel it is now time to head in another direction.<\/p>\n

“(The name) ‘Bandamill’ was my wife’s idea and stands for “we banded together to save the windmills” which supplied stock water to the farm, during the period the Bjelke-Petersen Dam was being constructed.”<\/p>\n

Leo and Glenda are not leaving the area as their main residence is in Murgon.<\/p>\n

Leo\u00a0may have recently retired as president of the Murgon Business and Development Association but he is continuing to produce “Murgon Moments” and operate the Clifton Motors car dealership in town.<\/p>\n

The clearing sale is being held from 9:30am on Saturday (December 12) at 3134 Burnett Highway (Nanango-Goomeri Road).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Items can be viewed on Friday (December 11).<\/p>\n
