December 8, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first patients have been treated – and the first baby born – in Kingaroy’s new $92.5 million hospital.<\/p>\n

Darling Downs Health said the first patient to be treated was Robert Knock, pictured at right.<\/p>\n

And the first baby starred in a social media post by Darling Downs Health at the weekend (see below).<\/p>\n

Services began moving into the hospital on December 1 after the final fitout of Stage 1 of the complex was completed.<\/p>\n

Inpatient services began on December 2.<\/p>\n

The first stage includes the expanded Emergency Department on the ground floor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Other services on this level are\u00a0x-ray, pathology and the pharmacy.<\/p>\n

The first floor contains the patient wards (medical, surgical and paediatric), maternity and birthing suites, operating theatres and day surgery.<\/p>\n

Specialist outpatients, cardiac rehabilitation and patient travel will be located in the Annexe building, near the public car park and Allied Health building.<\/p>\n

The Renal Unit, Oral Health and Community Health services are operating in\u00a0their current\u00a0locations.<\/p>\n

Construction of Stage 2 – which includes demolition of the old hospital building – will start in the New Year and will include an expanded Renal Unit and a specialist outpatient service.<\/p>\n

Stage 2 is expected to be finished by the end of 2021.<\/p>\n
