Murgon businesspeople enjoyed a sneak preview this week of a multi-million dollar development which has broken ground at Moffatdale.<\/p>\n

Local tourism operator Joe Prendergast – best known for Dusty Hill Wines, Goomeri Bakery and Joe’s Grand Hotel – showed members of the Murgon Business and Development Association artists’ sketches and floorplans for his latest project.<\/p>\n

He said the $6 million development would be built in stages on a block next to Dusty Hill Wines.<\/p>\n

Plans included a brewery, distillery, underground cellar, 10-room motel and accommodation cottages.<\/p>\n

Some initial construction work has already begun.<\/p>\n

The plans were greeted with applause by the MBDA members who had gathered at Murgon’s Royal Hotel on Tuesday for the first evening meet’n’greet organised by the business association.<\/p>\n

Newly elected MBDA president Mark Smith said he was pleased to see many new and different faces at the dinner event.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said the MBDA’s breakfast meetings would continue but the meet’n’greets would be more social events.<\/p>\n

“Our monthly breakfast meetings are very productive but the board felt there was a need for businesspeople to be able to just talk business,” he said.<\/p>\n

Mark also asked the MBDA members to let the committee know what they wanted the association to be doing.<\/p>\n

“What would you like to see your membership money spent on?” he said.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think things are travelling badly or we are doing anything wrong but we need to know if you’re getting your money’s worth.”<\/p>\n
