{"id":288425,"date":"2020-12-01T15:06:59","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T05:06:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=288425"},"modified":"2020-12-01T21:12:39","modified_gmt":"2020-12-01T11:12:39","slug":"few-surprises-in-state-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/12\/01\/few-surprises-in-state-budget\/","title":{"rendered":"Few Surprises In State Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_203760\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-203760\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/cameron-dick-200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-203760\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/cameron-dick-200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/cameron-dick-200.jpg 200w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/cameron-dick-200-171x300.jpg 171w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-203760\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Treasurer Cameron Dick<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>December 1, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Queensland is the only Australian State, other than Western Australia, to\u00a0record positive economic growth this financial year, Treasurer Cameron Dick told State Parliament on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur economy is bouncing back strongly thanks to Queensland\u2019s incredible health response to COVID-19 and with the border re-opening to Victoria and Greater Sydney today, we look forward to welcoming more visitors back to our beautiful State,\u201d Mr Dick said.<\/p>\n<p>The Treasurer delivered his 2020-21 State Budget in Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>There were few surprises in the speech, with projects either already announced or partially completed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights for the South Burnett area include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$125,000\u00a0 to upgrade the Koondaii circuit walking track in the Bunya Mountains National Park<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$41.6 million to refurbish existing infrastructure and develop future mining areas at\u00a0Meandu Mine<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$118.4 to replace and refurbish\u00a0existing infrastructure at\u00a0the Tarong power station<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$1.6 million over three years to upgrade agriculture and animal husbandry facilities, including new exclusion fencing and sheds, at\u00a0Kingaroy State High School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$23 million out of the $92.5 million total spend for the redevelopment of\u00a0Kingaroy Hospital<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$675,000 out of a $4 million total spend to deliver new town reservoir tanks for the Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council and replace and upgrade other critical water treatment infrastructure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>$10.1 million out of a $10.9 million total spend to construct a new hall, a new administration building and a Youth Hub at\u00a0Murgon State High School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The previously announced $40 million for the Wellcamp Entertainment Precinct is also included in Budget allocations although no Federal support for the project has been confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr Dick said total Queensland debt would hit $130 billion by 2023-24.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, he indicated that Queensland was in a better position than either NSW or Victoria, with the total debt-to-revenue ratio in Victoria at 226 per cent, in NSW at 195 per cent and Queensland at 172 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said thanks to Queensland\u2019s strong health response, the State economy was in a better position than others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Budget will support our economic recovery from the global COVID-19 pandemic by supporting jobs and supporting Queensland communities with investment in infrastructure as well as Queensland manufacturing and supporting our regional centres,\u201d the Premier said.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related article: <a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/10\/02\/40m-backing-for-motorsport-plan\/\">$40m Backing For Motorsport Plan<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Queensland is the only Australian State, other than Western Australia, to\u00a0record positive economic growth this financial year, Treasurer Cameron Dick told State Parliament on Tuesday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":203761,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
