Murgon Crusaders continued their dominance of the Gympie A Grade cricket competition with a 10-wicket win over Western Gympie at Murgon Sportsground last Saturday.<\/p>\n

Crusaders are currently on top of the ladder in the 40-over competition after also finishing on top during the earlier T20 rounds.<\/p>\n

Wests won the toss and elected to bat.<\/p>\n

At the end of their 40 overs, they were 7\/133.<\/p>\n

Ashley Sippel (3\/24 off six overs) and Graham Brown (2\/12 off eight) did the work for Murgon.<\/p>\n

In reply, openers Jason Webber (78) and\u00a0 Danny Kapernick (38) overhauled the Gympie target in 77 minutes without losing a wicket.<\/p>\n

… but it wasn’t all smooth sailing! Webber gets into a bit of a tangle while fending off a faster ball<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In Kingaroy, Wooroolin Warriors had a closer game against Gympie Harlequins at Lyle Vidler Oval, but still tasted victory.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Warriors won the toss and elected to bat, finishing with 8\/155 after their 40 overs.<\/p>\n

Harlequins got off to a strong start, bowling Warriors’ opener Caylan Brown for a duck in the first over.<\/p>\n

But Luke Smith (21) and Lleyton Brown (21) then pointed the home team in the right direction.<\/p>\n

Matthew Patroni (58 not out) kept the scoreboard ticking over with six boundaries.<\/p>\n

In reply, Harlequins were all out for 146 in the 39th over.<\/p>\n

Kieren Askin (2\/10 off eight overs, including three maidens), Tyler Heness (2\/24), Matthew Patroni (2\/23) and Michael Wostear (2\/29) worked hard to secure the nine-run win for Wooroolin.<\/p>\n

This weekend’s A Grade games, which will all be played in Gympie, are the last round ahead of the finals of the 40-over series.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The finals of the T20 series are also yet to be played.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Senior Competition<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The South Burnett Senior cricket competition hosted Round 1 of its T20 series on Saturday which meant three venues each hosted two matches.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Murgon State High School,\u00a0Wooroolin Warriors (2\/50) defeated Cherbourg (8\/42) by eight wickets.<\/p>\n

Cherbourg (2\/118) rebounded in the second game, defeating Kingaroy Services (9\/104 by 14 runs).<\/p>\n

At Murgon Sportsground’s Stables pitch,\u00a0\u00a0Murgon Diggers (2\/56) defeated Nanango Scorpions (all out for 53) by 8 wickets.<\/p>\n

Diggers (7\/139) then backed up and defeated Kumbia Rattlers (9\/118) by 21 runs.<\/p>\n

At Wondai Cricket Ground, Kumbia took on Kingaroy Services (result unknown), before Wooroolin Warriors (8\/96) defeated Wondai Wolves (9\/94) by two wickets.<\/p>\n

Representative Cricket<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

In the Queensland State Challenge, the Wide Bay U13 Boys (8\/130) were defeated by the Bears (all out 149) at Wellington Point.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are four South Burnett players in the Wide Bay team: Lachlan Cullen, Lochlan Burrows,\u00a0Braidyn Scott and Oscar Dioth.<\/p>\n

Scott (40), Burrows (22) and Dioth (18) did well with the bat for Wide Bay while\u00a0Cullen took 3\/33 off seven overs.<\/p>\n

The action will be shifting to the South Burnett this weekend.<\/p>\n

The Under 13s Wide Bay XI will be taking on Brisbane North in Round 4 at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy<\/p>\n

The action gets under way at 9:30am on Sunday.<\/p>\n

    Hamish Mungall (26 not out) and\u00a0Nate Reilly (18 not out) top scored for Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

    Brian Smith (2\/24) and\u00a0Emma Cullen (1\/14) took the wickets for Nanango.<\/p>\n

    For the Scorpions,\u00a0Angus Elford (19) and\u00a0Darcy Cullen (16) were best with the bat.<\/p>\n

    Nate C. took 2\/5 and\u00a0Isaac Hauritz 2\/6 for Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

      Patrick Hoare (3\/16) and\u00a0Josh Kruger (2\/11) were the pick of the Kingaroy bowlers.<\/p>\n

      In reply, Blake Manthey (31) and\u00a0Noah Birch (30) top scored for Kingaroy while\u00a0Lawson Black (2\/7) and\u00a0Braidyn Scott (2\/6) took the wickets for Nanango.<\/p>\n
