Relay For Life patron Carl Rackemann … no “Dinner With The Captains” this year but there’s an “Auction With The Captains”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Relay For Life has hundreds of supporters in the South Burnett … and the organisers of this year’s Dinner With The Captains are hoping they’ll all be cashed up and tuned into the radio on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Dinner With The Captains is a very popular annual fundraising event for the Cancer Council Queensland, and the dinner auction always attracts plenty of bids.<\/p>\n

But COVID-19 meant no Dinner With The Captains could be organised this year.<\/p>\n

So, instead of a dinner and auction, it’s just an auction … which will be held live on CROW-FM 90.7 from 6:00am to 10:00am on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Dinner With The Captains organiser Carl\u00a0Rackemann is urging local residents to tune in and bid on\u00a0some highly coveted sporting and music memorabilia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAs well as amazing auction items, we have former\u00a0national sporting\u00a0captains joining us through the morning,\u00a0including\u00a0Allan Border, Natalie Cook, Ian Healy and\u00a0Powderfinger\u00a0lead vocalist\u00a0Bernard Fanning,\u201d Carl said.<\/p>\n

Auction items include\u00a0a 70 inch Hisense S5 4K LED LCD Smart TV (thanks to Harvey Norman Kingaroy); sporting memorabilia and Powderfinger items; an autographed Socceroos\u00a0pictorial tribute to Harry Kewell,\u00a0 and a BEGIN\u00a04 wheel\u00a0hay rake (donated by\u00a0OzValue\u00a0AG).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The auction will\u00a0also be livestreamed on Facebook<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0for people who want to bid but can’t tune in.<\/p>\n

Dinner With The Captains has been a vital fundraising event\u00a0organised\u00a0by the South Burnett Relay\u00a0For\u00a0Life committee for the past\u00a010 years.<\/p>\n

All funds raised go towards\u00a0cancer support services, prevention programs and lifesaving cancer research.<\/p>\n

Carl said he had been determined to keep the event running in 2020, despite the COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been working hard to put together a quality list of\u00a0auction\u00a0items and\u00a0seek the support of some of our past Dinner sponsors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Cancer Council Queensland CEO Chris McMillan thanked\u00a0Carl and the South\u00a0Burnett Relay\u00a0For\u00a0Life committee for their\u00a0ongoing support.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLongstanding annual fundraising events such as Dinner With The Captains are incredibly important\u00a0to\u00a0both the local community and Cancer Council Queensland,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
