Several boxes of toiletries and other household essentials will be going to help some of the most vulnerable young people after a donation drive at Stanwell sites in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

The boxes were handed over to representatives from the South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group (SBSPWG) on Wednesday afternoon in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The items were collected from Tarong power stations, from both Stanwell, UGL and other employees<\/p>\n

SBSPWG chair Cr Danita Potter thanked the employees for their donations.<\/p>\n

She said the items would be handed over to youth support group, Youth Insearch.<\/p>\n

This registered charity works to turn around at-risk young people\u2019s behaviour and attitudes to life with dedicated programs.<\/p>\n

Since 1985, Youth Insearch has helped more than 30,000 young people aged between 14 and 20 to rebuild their lives, and currently assists around 1000 young people per year across NSW, Victoria and Queensland.<\/p>\n

Cr Potter said the group had worked with young people in the South Burnett with great results.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sharron Coughlan – Tarong power stations\u2019 Apprentice and Trainee Officer – is a committee member with SBSPWG.<\/p>\n

She said\u00a0Stanwell actively looked for ways to make positive impacts to the communities in which they operate.<\/p>\n

“Sometimes this is through their social investment programs, other times it is through the passion their people have for bettering the communities they live in,” she said.<\/p>\n
