South Burnett Care is putting a callout to local young people … the group is looking to recruit 10 trainees to start work in January.<\/p>\n

The not-for-profit organisation has been growing in\u00a0both the South Burnett and Toowoomba regions.<\/p>\n

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and aged care reforms have seen a demand for new workers across all areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an exciting time for us to be able to bring young people into our business and also a great opportunity for the 2020 school leavers in particular who must be worried about job prospects due to COVID-19,\u201d\u00a0CEO Cheryl Dalton said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the past year South Burnett Care and Toowoomba Community Care have doubled their staff, including community service workers, Meals on Wheels and administration teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast time we did a group trainee intake we were very proud to have Sam Nordling- Baker – one of the trainees – shortlisted for a State Traineeship Award,” Mrs Dalton said.<\/p>\n

“It is heartening to say that she and some other trainees from that intake are still employed with us and have grown with the business.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany people do not know what we do until they need aged care or disability support, and we are hoping that we can train a new generation of young people to make a difference in the lives of people in our community.”<\/p>\n

South Burnett Care is offering three types of traineeships: Certificate III in Kitchen Operations (one position), Community Service Worker – Individual Support (four positions) and Business Administration (five positions).<\/p>\n
