The latest effort by the Kumbia Neighbourhood Watch group to lock down number plates should leave a few more would-be thieves empty-handed.<\/p>\n

Thieves regularly steal number plates to fix to stolen vehicles in the vain hope that police will be fooled.<\/p>\n

They’re also commonly used during fuel “drive-offs” from service stations.<\/p>\n

A team of volunteers from Neighbourhood Watch, joined by Kingaroy police officers, fitted “one-way” screws to vehicles in Kingaroy on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Each of the drivers made a small donation to cover the cost of the screws, which can only be removed by a special tool.<\/p>\n

The names of the drivers will now go in a draw for a chance to win great prizes.<\/p>\n

Repco Kingaroy donated a dashcam unit as a prize, and Crowies Paints donated a $100 voucher.<\/p>\n
