November 13, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

The South Burnett Western Performance Club – a bunch of keen horse owners – is in the process of rebuilding after a year of disruptions to activities caused by COVID restrictions.<\/p>\n

The club usually conducts Open Western Performance Shows throughout the year at its grounds on Racecourse Road at Nanango, catering for all breeds of horses and all levels of riders.<\/p>\n

It held its second meeting back last weekend after restrictions eased, with new new members coming from as far away as Caboolture, Gympie, Gatton and Dalby.<\/p>\n

Club president Sarah Saxer said the club usually meets monthly.<\/p>\n

Last weekend, they held a beginners’ day on Saturday followed by open events on Sunday.<\/p>\n

It was also an opportunity for the club to show off its new tractor, purchased with a grant from Heritage Nanango Community Funding.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sarah said the tractor was used to slash the grounds and for other maintenance jobs.<\/p>\n

She said there had been great improvements to the grounds this year, including the development of a new ranch versatility course.<\/p>\n

“The grounds will also be spick and span for the New Year with new arena sand thanks to a grant from the Active Restart Infrastructure Recovery Fund,” Sarah said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a year that has been fraught with obstacles, we managed to keep our club growing to over 60 active members.<\/p>\n

“The recent shows at the grounds were very well supported by both local riders from the South Burnett as well as visitors from as far as Brisbane.<\/p>\n

“We are very grateful for the support we get from our local community and look forward to expanding the facilities at the grounds to welcome other equestrian groups and riders, as well as being able to provide spaces to encourage more spectators to our shows and clinics.<\/p>\n

“In 2021, the club will be hosting a variety of clinics aimed to help and encourage new riders to learn more about Western Performance and Ranch Riding.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Even though 2020 has been a challenging year, as a club we are all looking forward to returning next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The club will be holding a general meeting on Saturday (November 14) at the SBWPC grounds to set the show dates for next year.<\/p>\n
