Brisbane Valley Rail Trail ambassadors have repaired the trail between Blackbutt and Moore to “as good as new” just in time for the Easter long weekend, the South Burnett Regional Council said today.<\/p>\n

Sections of the trail were washed away by the this year’s floods and it’s been closed for just over a month.<\/p>\n

Acting Mayor Keith Campbell commended the extraordinary job the ambassadors have done to get the trail fixed for Easter. <\/p>\n

“It\u2019s in time for the riders, walkers and cyclists to enjoy the Easter sunshine in the South Burnett,” he said.<\/p>\n

“These extraordinary people take care of the trail even when it continues to be hit by some of the worst weather events in the space of just two years. <\/p>\n

“The BVRT is one of the natural highlights of our region.<\/p>\n

“If you haven\u2019t experienced the open blue skies, the sounds of the bellbirds and the views of the valley, the Easter weekend is the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind along the old railway line.<\/p>\n

“There are great facilities along the trail that provide shelter for lunch, toilets halfway and interpretive signage that explains some of the hidden secrets along the journey.<\/p>\n

“The Rail Trail is an asset to our region drawing visitors from Brisbane for an active weekend getaway and we are pleased that it\u2019s now open for the weekend.”<\/p>\n
