An improved border pass system to streamline entering Queensland will be introduced on Tuesday (November 10).<\/p>\n

All travellers to Queensland still have to apply in advance for a border declaration pass.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said the new upgraded system would streamline processing at border checkpoints and strengthen compliance measures.<\/p>\n

It will remove confusion around pass types by auto-selecting passes for applicants based on the information they provide.<\/p>\n

All applicants will need to upload supporting documents for validation which may take up to three business days to be processed.<\/p>\n

Travellers should bring their hard copy documents to border control while the new system is phased in.<\/p>\n

There is no need for people with existing Queensland Border Declaration Passes to re-apply as all valid passes will continue to be honoured.<\/p>\n

Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said the revamped system was designed to streamline processes while ensuring compliance with border restrictions was maintained.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an automated system to remove confusion and assist in speeding up processing at the border,\u201d Deputy Commissioner Gollshewski said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe improvements to the system will further reduce the risk to Queenslanders by strengthening enforcement measures on those who seek to enter our state with false declarations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile most people coming into Queensland do the right thing, there have been a number of instances of people attempting to blatantly disobey the directions and make false declarations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new improvements address concerns and give a very clear message that if you don\u2019t have a valid border pass, you will not be granted access into Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge everyone coming into Queensland to plan ahead and make sure you apply for a border pass before your travel.\u201d<\/p>\n
