rain has been disrupting cricket in the South Burnett in recent weeks<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>November 6, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rain again affected cricket in the South Burnett region last weekend, with one game washed out and the T20 final of the A Grade competition to be rescheduled.<\/p>\n<p>But the South Burnett&#8217;s junior cricketers have been starring in representative games played outside the region (see below).<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the South Burnett senior competition,\u00a0Wooroolin Warriors (6\/153) drew with Kumbia Rattlers (0\/19) in Kingaroy after their game was washed out.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The match had earlier been scheduled to be played at Kingaroy State School but was shifted to Lyle Vidler Oval.<\/p>\n<p>Rain stopped play in the 35th over of the Warriors&#8217; Kumbia&#8217;s Dan Trace watches anxiously as the ball heads towards the stumps. It missed &#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Murgon Diggers (3\/68) defeated Kingaroy Services, all out for 65, by seven wickets at Murgon Showground.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Services won the toss and batted first, with Luke Peters top scoring with 25.<\/p>\n<p>Peters hit several boundaries but dug in, defying the Murgon bowlers for over an hour before he was finally run out.<\/p>\n<p>Bowling honours were shared around by Murgon but Riley Sippel (2\/0) and Nathan Roderick (2\/5) finished with the best figures.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Murgon overhauled the Kingaroy target in the 15th over.<\/p>\n<p>Openers Joe Meikle (22) and Lachlan Zelinski (17) did the main damage.<\/p>\n<p>Luke Peters was the best of the Kingaroy bowlers, taking 2\/7 off his six overs, which included one maiden.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Nanango Scorpions (243)\u00a0defeated Cherbourg (59) by 184 runs at Nanango Sportsground.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nanango won the toss and batted first.<\/p>\n<p>Brock Matthews (56), Jay Steinhardt (51), Nicholas Scherger (32) and Michael Marriott (31) kept the scorers busy.<\/p>\n<p>Joven Gyemore (2\/24 off four overs) was the best of the Cherbourg bowlers.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Cherbourg were all out in the 15th over, with Tom Langton (10), Lyndon Hopkins (12) and Lloyd Langton (12) putting up the most resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Nicholas Scherger and\u00a0Jay Steinhardt took three wickets apiece with Dan O&#8217;Connor finishing up the tailenders, taking 2\/2 off just five balls.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>A Grade<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>In the Gympie A Grade competition, the scheduled T20 Final between Murgon Crusaders and Gympie Valleys, which was to be played on Saturday night at\u00a0Keith Manthey Oval in Gympie was washed out.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The match will be rescheduled.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #006699;\"><strong>South Burnett Junior Cricket<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Stage 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kingaroy Burnett Water (2\/130) defeated Nanango (5\/109) by eight wickets at Nanango Sportsground.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Smith (17) and\u00a0Angus Elford (13) were the top scorers on the day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stage 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nanango (3\/133) defeated Kingaroy Burnett Water (7\/124) by nine runs in a close match at Nanango Sportsground.<\/p>\n<p>Lochlan Burrows (26 not out) and\u00a0Braidyn Scott (16 not out) top scored for Nanango.<\/p>\n<p>Logan Chew 2\/15 and\u00a0Archie Koehler 1\/8 took the Nanango wickets.<\/p>\n<p>In reply,\u00a0Tom Town (28) and\u00a0Josh Kruger (16 not out) top scored by Kingaroy,<\/p>\n<p>Braidyn Scott took 1\/8 for Nanango.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_283608\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-283608\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/matthewspringate.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-283608\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/matthewspringate.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/matthewspringate.jpg 360w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/matthewspringate-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/matthewspringate-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/matthewspringate-30x30.jpg 30w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-283608\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Matthew Springate was one of the South Burnett players in the Wide Bay U21 side which took out the O&#8217;Dea Shield<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>South Burnett junior cricketers have been making their mark recently in a number of representative arenas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Under 21s, Wide Bay defeated\u00a0South-East Queensland, Gold Coast and Darling Downs to take out the South Queensland O&#8217;Dea Shield.<\/p>\n<p>Local cricketers Matthew Springate and Tyler Heness were part of the Wide Bay side.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>In the Lord&#8217;s Taverners competition, the Under 16s Wide Bay Boys (7\/184) narrowly defeated a\u00a0strong Toombul side (all out for 180) at Newton Oval, Maryborough.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The side was captained by Harry Sippel who finished with 17 runs.
