{"id":283428,"date":"2020-11-05T18:46:31","date_gmt":"2020-11-05T08:46:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=283428"},"modified":"2020-11-06T21:54:46","modified_gmt":"2020-11-06T11:54:46","slug":"robertas-connecting-forks-farms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2020\/11\/05\/robertas-connecting-forks-farms\/","title":{"rendered":"Roberta&#8217;s Connecting Forks &#038; Farms"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_283616\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-283616\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/20201105saucyfork1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/20201105saucyfork1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"460\" class=\"size-full wp-image-283616\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/20201105saucyfork1.jpg 740w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/20201105saucyfork1-300x186.jpg 300w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/20201105saucyfork1-269x167.jpg 269w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/20201105saucyfork1-285x177.jpg 285w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/20201105saucyfork1-340x211.jpg 340w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/20201105saucyfork1-263x163.jpg 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-283616\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chef Roberta Schablon with Skye Douglass, from HighBrit Beef at Neumgna and the new cookbook &#8230; HighBrit Beef is one of the producers featured<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>November 5, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Diners at the KCCI breakfast in Kingaroy on Thursday morning had the opportunity to preview copies of local chef Roberta Schablon&#8217;s new cookbook, &#8220;The Saucy Fork&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The book, fresh from the printers, has 14 chapters featuring different food producers from the South Burnett accompanied by stories by Kathy Cope.<\/p>\n<p>After each chapter, there is a recipe by Roberta highlighting the particular produce featured.<\/p>\n<p>The book will be officially launched on November 14 &#8211; at 10:00am at Taste Of Tingoora,\u00a073 Tingoora-Charlestown Road,\u00a0Tingoora; and at 6:00pm at Clovely Estate, Steinhardts Road, Moffatdale.<\/p>\n<p>Copies can be ordered on Roberta&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thesaucyfork.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Saucy Fork&#8221; is also the name of Roberta&#8217;s Cloyna-based catering business which has been providing high-end food for local functions for almost a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Roberta has a passion for local produce and prepared the &#8220;Locavore Breakfast&#8221; for the KCCI on Thursday which included asparagus, eggs, bacon, chipolata, garlic, herbs, barbecue sauce and sourdough all sourced in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Roberta also had some exciting news to share &#8230; the not-for-profit &#8220;Farm 2 Fork Collective&#8221; plans to open an outlet in an empty Wooroolin shop featuring nothing but South Burnett food and wine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is based on a farmer&#8217;s market but I just wanted it to be easy for farmers &#8230; so I was looking for a closed shed or something that was closed in where they could have their dedicated space,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Roberta was joined by Skye Douglass, from HighBrit Beef, and BIEDO CEO Kristy Frahm to explore the idea.<\/p>\n<p>They now have nine people on the committee and it has just become an incorporated association.<\/p>\n<p>Their vision is that shop will stock local products &#8211; perishable and non-perishable &#8211; and wine, all in one spot.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a caterer my issues were accessibility. The South Burnett needs a place where everything is accessible. I have driven 40 minutes just to pick up product and driven 40 minutes back,&#8221; Roberta said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No chef or cook will do that in a local business. I want to see them using local produce in local businesses, but they&#8217;re not because it&#8217;s too hard to access.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Roberta said that by using local produce, businesses created &#8220;a story&#8221; for tourists to take home, &#8220;a food memory&#8221; which is the modern equivalent of souvenirs.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The Farm 2 Fork Collective has a special event taking place this weekend.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Olive Grove Picnic With Producers will be held at 1468 Barambah Road in Moffatdale from 11:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The event has been jointly organised by Clovely Estate, the Farm 2 Fork Collective, The Saucy Fork and Pursers Coaches and will take the form of a family picnic among Clovely&#8217;s olive groves.<\/p>\n<p>Entry tickets are $6.50 per person <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com.au\/e\/the-olive-grove-picnic-with-producers-tickets-124510842281?fbclid=IwAR2h9dPfV5alDM83PlB6D2GfCOXXbZeDID89Qs_mRSvrI4CmUcW5pxSKfL0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">via Eventbrite<\/a><\/strong> (available until November 6) and guests should BYO blankets or chairs and lawn games.<\/p>\n<p>The Saucy Fork will have grazing platters for two available for pre-purchase at $30 each (phone 0416-142-044 to order) and Pursers will provide return bus transport between Kingaroy, Murgon and Moffatdale for $10 per head\u00a0 &#8211; phone (07) 4168-1533 to book a seat.<\/p>\n<p>Clovely Estate wines will be available to buy on site (no BYO alcohol is allowed).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Diners at the KCCI breakfast in Kingaroy on Thursday morning had the opportunity to preview copies of local chef Roberta Schablon&#8217;s new cookbook, &#8220;The Saucy Fork&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":283616,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,16,3,36,10],"tags":[1134,1130],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
