Police have launched a public appeal as part of an investigation into the discovery of human remains at Kybong last month.<\/p>\n

Investigations began on October 11 after a member of the public found the skeletal remains – including a left femur and a jawbone – in bushland off Keefton Road.<\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Gary Pettiford said police believed the bones belong to one person who may have died at least two years ago.<\/p>\n

He said scientific analysis suggested there was an 85 per cent probability the bones were those of a woman, between 150-165cm tall.<\/p>\n

Det Insp Pettiford said a 15cm metal implant was found in the femur which meant the person had undergone substantial surgery to their left leg at some stage.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police are trying to trace a serial number on the surgical plate.<\/p>\n

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have information to come forward.<\/p>\n

Numerous items of clothing, including a blue polo shirt, blue tracksuit pants and Jet Star brand shoes (size 6), were located during searches in the surrounding area.<\/p>\n

At this stage of the investigation, the cause of death remains unknown.<\/p>\n
