In preparation for the festive season, South Burnett residents are being urged to band together again and light up their homes for Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>As an incentive for neighbours to work together to demonstrate their Christmas spirit, Council will be presenting the annual CEO\u2019s &#8220;Santa Claus Lane&#8221; award to the street which best embodies Christmas and co-operation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The winning street will receive a &#8220;Santa Claus Lane&#8221; street sign to display on their street permanently.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Burnett Regional Council CEO Mark Pitt said the Santa Claus Lane initiative was aimed at promoting co-operation in the community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a great way for residents to demonstrate their community spirit, work with their family, friends and neighbours, and provide some Christmas cheer for other community members,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In addition, the community will be able to recognise this festive spirit throughout the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Council has asked people who are &#8220;lighting up for Christmas&#8221; to let them know so the display can be featured on the map of entries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registrations can be completed on Council&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southburnett.qld.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>\u00a0or via an entry form available at any of Council\u2019s Customer Service Centres.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Registrations close at 4:30pm on Friday, November 27.<\/p>\n<p>The judging for Santa Claus Lane will be based on the co-operation of the houses in the street for participation.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the entry form, entrants will be asked to enclose up to one A4 page (no smaller than 10 point) detailing why the houses in their street should be identified as the winner of Santa Claus Lane. Up to three members of the street should be added as contacts for the form.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, this is about working together, so your entry must talk about how you\u2019ve worked together to create the display in the spirit of Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>Entries for Santa Claus Lane will be judged from 7:00pm through to 10:00pm from November 30 to December 7.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_282938\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-282938\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/20201030dingcocreek.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-282938\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/20201030dingcocreek.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"486\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/20201030dingcocreek.jpg 740w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/20201030dingcocreek-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-282938\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A Council map showing the alternate parking area south of the Dingo Creek car park (Photo: SBRC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Rehabilitation works at the Dingo Creek car\u00a0 park, off the Bunya Highway at Wondai, will begin on Monday (November 2).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The works, funded through Council\u2019s capital works program and Federal Government&#8217;s\u00a0Drought Communities Program, will include upgrading the existing gravel pavement to\u00a0a bitumen seal, line marking, disabled parking, caravan access and associated landscaping.<\/p>\n<p>It is anticipated the works will be completed in mid-November, subject to weather and other external\u00a0constraints.<\/p>\n<p>During construction the car park will be closed but access to the toilet block will remain remain open.
