Local councils have welcomed an announcement this week by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk that a re-elected Labor State Government would commit $400 million to the popular Works 4 Queensland infrastructure program.<\/p>\n

The Premier made the commitment during her opening speech at the Local Government of Queensland annual conference which is being held on the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n

Mayors, CEOs and other Council representatives from across Queensland are attending the conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cMayors and councillors from across regional Queensland were buoyed by the Premier\u2019s ongoing commitment to rural Queensland councils,\u201d\u00a0 South Burnett Mayor Brett Otto said.<\/p>\n

He said the Premier also announced another $280 million for the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme across Queensland.<\/p>\n

The $280 million will be spent over four years.<\/p>\n

On October 20, the Premier announced that if elected, a Labor government would commit to an $880 million “Keeping Queensland Working” program, which includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • $400 million Works 4 Queensland<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • $200 million for the SEQ Community Stimulus Package, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • $280 million to continue the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
