Emergency services were called to a rural property near Hawkwood – north-west of Monogorilby – on Wednesday afternoon after reports a helicopter had crashed.<\/p>\n

A QAS spokesperson said paramedics assessed one person at the scene who had managed to extricate himself from the downed aircraft before emergency services arrived.<\/p>\n

Emergency services and the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter were called just before 4:30pm.<\/p>\n

Initial reports said the pilot, a man aged in his 30s, was not injured.<\/p>\n

However, the LifeFlight aeromedical team assessed the man at the scene before\u00a0airlifting him to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.<\/p>\n

A LifeFlight spokesperson said it was believed the helicopter was mustering livestock on a private property when it lost power and crashed into trees.<\/p>\n

This is the second incident to have occurred at Hawkwood in recent days.<\/p>\n

On Sunday afternoon, fire crews were called to the remote location to monitor a grass fire burning west of Cadarga-Hawkwood Road between Lawes and Ormonde roads.<\/p>\n

The fire was contained and there was no threat to property.<\/p>\n
