The Kelvyn T. Peters Bridge, near Kingaroy, will receive Federal funding to assist with its repairs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett Regional Council will receive half the cost of an estimated $60,000 upgrade of the Kelvyn T. Peters Bridge at Inverlaw from the Federal Government.<\/p>\n

Successful applicants under Round 5 of the government’s\u00a0Bridges Renewal Program were announced by Deputy Prime Minister\u00a0Michael McCormack on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Council will receive $30,000 to undertake structural maintenance and renew guard rails.<\/p>\n

At May’s SBRC meeting, councillors voted to submit two projects for funding under Round 5 of the program.<\/p>\n

The second project, which was not listed among the Round 5 recipients on Tuesday, was a bridge on Home Creek Loop Road near Wilkesdale.<\/p>\n

This bridge was closed last August when Council inspectors found structural defects that affected its load-bearing capacity.<\/p>\n

At the time, it was estimated the two bridge repairs would cost a total of $180,000.<\/p>\n
