The latest grants from the State Government\u2019s Show Societies Grants Program were announced on Friday.<\/p>\n

The 130 show societies and associations across the State will share more than $2.1 million in funding.<\/p>\n

Local grants are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Bell Show Society – $7893<\/li>\n
  • Blackbutt Show Society – $7369<\/li>\n
  • Cooyar Agricultural Society – $9299<\/li>\n
  • Murgon Show Society – $12,785<\/li>\n
  • Nanango AP&M Society – $11,349<\/li>\n
  • Proston PA & H Ass Inc – $7817<\/li>\n
  • South Burnett National Show Society (Kingaroy) Inc – $11,935<\/li>\n
  • Wondai AP&I Society Inc – $8663<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Show Societies Grants Program provides financial support for operating costs associated with conducting annual agricultural shows, and costs towards the construction and maintenance of showground assets.<\/p>\n

    Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies general manager Trevor Beckingham OAM said the funding was important in helping show societies deliver their shows.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \u201cMany of the smaller show societies in particular, would find it extremely difficult to conduct their local show without this assistance from the Queensland Government,\u201d Mr Beckingham said.<\/p>\n

    Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the importance of the local show would be even greater in 2021, helping Queensland communities unite and recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

    \u201cThe local show plays an enormous role in bringing communities together to meet, compare, compete and most importantly, connect,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
