A large grass fire burning near Kilkivan has prompted a warning to motorists on the Wide Bay Highway.<\/p>\n

At 4:00pm on Tuesday, a QFES spokesperson said multiple fire crews were at the fire, burning\u00a0near the intersection of Blacksnake Road.<\/p>\n

This grass fire broke out earlier on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said the fire was posing no threat to property.<\/p>\n

Firefighters were working to contain the fire and crews would be patrolling the area throughout the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Smoke haze was affecting the Wide Bay Highway and motorists were advised to slow down and drive to the conditions.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: At 8:15am, Wednesday:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The fire is contained and poses no threat to property at this time. Fire crews are working to strengthen containment lines and crews will patrol the fire throughout the day.<\/p>\n

Smoke may affect the Wide Bay Highway and Kilkivan-Tansey Road.\u00a0Motorists are advised to slow down and drive to the conditions.<\/p>\n
