Two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Queensland on Sunday, including a 32-year-old nurse at Ipswich Hospital.<\/p>\n

Health Minister Dr Steven Miles said this brought to four the number of staff members at the hospital who have contracted the disease; 222 hospital employees are now in quarantine after contract tracing.<\/p>\n

Dr Miles said there had been an inevitable impact on rostering so a number of appointments scheduled at Ipswich Hospital this week would either be moved to another facility or rescheduled.<\/p>\n

The new cases brought to 33 the number linked to the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre \/ Queensland Corrections Training Academy cluster.<\/p>\n

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said she had no concerns about PPE or training of staff at the hospital, but the fact that health workers tested positive proved just how infectious this disease was.<\/p>\n

The second new case confirmed on Sunday is a woman in her 20s who is the sibling of a previously confirmed case, a student at Staines Memorial College at Redbank Plains. This woman was already in isolation.<\/p>\n

There are currently 25 active cases in Queensland; 6062 tests have been carried out during the past 24 hours, including 152 people on Russell Island.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
