Queensland\u2019s Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Queensland Health reported one new case of COVID-19 on Saturday, a woman aged in her 60s living on Russell Island.<\/p>\n

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said\u00a0the case was believed to be linked to an earlier confirmed case, part of the Wacol cluster.<\/p>\n

“We want to reassure the people of Russell Island and other islands in the area that we’ve been planning for situations like this and we are well prepared to ensure that their health needs are taken care of,” Dr Young said.<\/p>\n

“Contact tracing is under way and we will\u00a0continue to assess the situation and provide the local community with the relevant advice as more information comes to light.<\/p>\n

“Metro South Health is currently planning to set-up a pop-up COVID-19 testing clinic at the Russell Island Recreation Hall, 2 High St, Russell Island, near the ferry terminal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“They are also in the process of arranging for the patient to be transferred to the mainland.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we are still determining where the virus may have been acquired, we are working closely with this patient to gather necessary information, including other places she may have visited whilst infectious.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cVigilance is key to keeping community transmission out of the islands and out of Queensland.”<\/p>\n

Dr Young urged people with COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, to get tested.<\/p>\n

Queensland Health released an updated list on Saturday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anyone who has been to any of these locations at these times should monitor their health and, if they develop even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms, get tested.<\/p>\n
