A men’s shed project at Kilkivan will receive just over $55,000 from the latest round of the “Tackling Tough Times Together” program.<\/p>\n

The funding – which is supported by the Federal Government and philanthropy – is distributed by the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR).<\/p>\n

The TTTT program aims to help groups in rural, regional and remote Australia tackle the effects of the drought by building capacity, reducing social isolation, developing leadership and skills training, improving social and educational participation, and stimulating economic activity.<\/p>\n

Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack said 30 projects across Australia would share in more than $1.1 million.<\/p>\n

The Kilkivan Veteran’s and Community Men’s Shed Association will receive\u00a0$55,105 to construct a facility to\u00a0reduce social isolation and increase connectedness.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The group plans to offer craft activities at the shed.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur $15 million funding assistance to the Tackling Tough Times Together program has already supported hundreds of projects run by local groups in drought-affected regional communities,” Mr McCormack said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese projects build social cohesion, reduce social isolation, develop local capacity and leadership skills, address disadvantage, stimulate economic activity and can increase educational participation.”<\/p>\n
