South Burnett Saints, playing in their heritage colours, overpowered the Warwick Redbacks on Saturday in Kingaroy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett Saints celebrated their special Heritage Round in Kingaroy at the weekend with thumping wins by both the men’s and women’s teams.<\/p>\n

The Saints men, wearing their Kingaroy Bulldogs-inspired strip, kept the Warwick Redbacks goalless until the last quarter.<\/p>\n

The final score was\u00a015.16-106 to\u00a01.5-11.<\/p>\n

Robert Goodwin led the way with the boot, kicking four goals.<\/p>\n

Other goal scorers were Nathan Trace (3), Shaun Pukallus (2), James Packer (2), Jack Hourn, Jordan Brooker, Jeremy Zaccardi and Mitchell Francis.<\/p>\n

The win was celebrated enthusiastically, with cheers and singing echoing from Lyle Vidler Oval down Youngman Street …<\/p>\n

In the women’s game – played earlier on Saturday – strong winds played havoc with the goal kicking with only one six-pointer going home.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The final score was Saints\u00a01.8-14 to South Toowoomba\u00a00.3-3.<\/p>\n

The solitary goal was kicked by Rosie Pyke.<\/p>\n

Next weekend, the South Burnett men – who are holding down fourth spot on the ladder – have a bye.<\/p>\n

Their next game will be against Toowoomba at Lyle Vidler Oval on September 5.<\/p>\n

The Saints women will be in action on Saturday against Goondiwindi at Dalby.<\/p>\n
